Get it here: http://www.blide.org/fontmachine/fontmachine-module-1-0-0.rar

It is advised on this page: http://www.blide.org/index.php?section=products

You can also get some really small tutorials here: http://www.blide.org/fontmachine/tutorial.rar

The font machine editor can be downloaded from the customers section private download area

Hi,

a couple of days ago I bought your BLIde Plus, and I must say its a great tool. I was already working with the free version, but now I use it in a more professional way. Now I discovered the font editor and module, but it's not really working like I would need it to do:

If I just work on very small projects, I often use the standart BMax Editor. But I get the error:

Compile Error
Can't find interface for module 'blide.fontmachine'

As long as I use BLIde it's working fine, but I would like to keep all my codes compatible.

The font Editor doesn't support OpenType fonts. Cause I often need Open Type fonts, it would be great if the program would also support them.

firstdeathmaker: The module is also compatible with MaxIDE. It sounds like it is not properly installed, or you're using 2 different Max setups. If you're using the module from a MAC or LINUX, be sure to compile it before getting the code running, as the module is only pre-compiled for Windows. The code is 100% compatible with mac and linux, but I'm not including the compiled binaries in the distro, but this should be a no-problem, as the source code is included, just compiling it would solve this.
Let me know if you don't manage to solve this.

To the OpenType fonts. They work if they're properly installed on your computer. The Font Machine editor uses the vectorized fonts available on the system.

Ok, thx, working fine now. I really have two BMax installations (one SVN Version) installed. But somehow, the SVN version doesn't accept mod's in its own mod directory, but only ones that are but in the original BMax mod directory.

@firstdeathmaker: Be sure to have the correct permission if you're using Vista, and to have the UAC off on vista also. Additionally, some checkouts on svn don't like to find folders they are not aware of, so this could mean there can be problems when doing checkouts in a max version that have third party modules. there's nothing I can do there...

just want to say that the otf-font problem is still there.

I'm using Win XP, I copied the otf fonts into the font directory of windows, and they are working in Photoshop CS3 and Paint Shop Pro X. So they are properly installed. But Font machine doesn't show them at all!

I've been looking for some additional information about this issue and it seems that some Adobe OTF are not compatible with .net font rendering engine. Other OTF fonts work great. If you can provide a free OTF that shows the problem, I would be glad to try it and see if I can arrange it by my side.

I'm using other OTF fonts without any problem, it seems Adobe are not following strict standards.

NOt sure if this is the same problem, Im using a font that displays in the editor fine - but when I save it and try to display it, nothing is on screen.

If I enlarge the font to say 42 it appears on screen but the font spacing is overlapping each letter ?

I'll download this font and test it to ensure there's not a bug there. Thanks for that information

Hi Ziggy,

I think I have the same problem .

It doesnt matter which font type I choose or which parameters I use
to render the Bitmapfont.

When I use the Bitmapfonts in my Programm, the letters are overlapping.

I have a Screenshot, I hope you can see it (it's a small Picture, i know)

Image

Thanks and
Best regards
Wolfgang

wolfgangn, can you send me the font project? Are ou using any strange blend mode? Does it happen when you're drawing the font from a BlitzMax application only? Can you send me the fmf file in order for me if the file has been created wrong, or the problem is a run-time problem?
Thanks

@stuc: I've created a font using the base ttf you provided and I'm not having any problems using it! Please, could you confirm you're using latest version of the module? If so, I'll be glad to send you a test-update in order to see if that fixes it.

To those having clipped letters: There is a bug on the editor renderer that is producing this clipped letters when the FMF is rendered on a computer with resolution greater than 1280 wide. I fix is ging to be released very soon.

This has been fixed on current version of the font editor. Get it on the customer's section of the website.

Seems as if the problem is still there:

I'm using FontMachin 1.0.5.0 and the newest module (I DL & installed it today).

Here a small rar to show the clipping error:

There is a 2 pixels offset bug in the latest editor, I'll release a fix for this next week.
Thanks!

Fixed (hope so).
Please get latest fontmachine editor from the customer's section and install it.
(It may be a good idea to uninstall previoud version first.)
